Clapotis and Morningside

in General Knitting

One project off the needles this week and another one on.

What came off the needles? That’s right, the Clapotis, which I blogged about previously. Here it is:

Clapotis

It was a really pleasant project, perfect to work on while watching tv or a movie, because once you memorize the pattern, it’s pretty straightforward. I also enjoyed it because it was my first time working with Malabrigo, which is just as beautiful and soft as everyone says it is. I ended up sending the Clapotis to my sister as a very belated birthday present.

Once I finished that, I cast on something for myself – the Morningside Neckwarmer designed by Jared Flood. It’s a free pattern listed on the Classic Elite Yarns web site.

Like the Clapotis, this is a pretty easy pattern to memorize. The stitch pattern is called ‘Morningside stitch’ and it looks like an exaggerated rib. No pictures yet, but here’s the yarn I’m using:

Handspun Alpaca/Buffalo

It’s my own handspun – a two-ply yarn made from one strand of bison and one strand of alpaca. The softness of the two fibers is going to be perfect for wearing against the neck.
