More Charity Knitting - Chemo Caps!

in General Knitting

I’ve heard about knitting chemo caps for cancer patients for years, but was finally inspired to do a couple by this post on Ravelry (login required). The poster (known as “Chewiedox”) is knitting for a charity called “Bag-it”, which provides bags filled with information and items for newly diagnosed cancer patients to help them cope with their diagnosis.

These caps were knit from a baby alpaca yarn using this pattern from Headhuggers.org. Chemo caps The hats knit up very quickly, took very little yarn, and they’re pretty cute (at least I think so).

If you have some spare yarn and a little time on your hands, I’d encourage you to knit a hat or headband for one of the great charities out there that are trying to make cancer patients a little more comfortable. If you don’t know of an organization in your area that accepts donations like this, check out Headhuggers.org. You can either submit a cap directly to them or to a group on the list that they maintain.
