Buffalo

Buffalo fiber is a warm, soft fiber that felts easily. Buffalo fiber has a fairly short staple length of approximately one inch. You’ll find that buffalo down has a lot of crimp, similar to sheep’s wool.

If you buy buffalo fiber in its raw form, you may want to separate out the guard hair before working with it. If there are any auctions for buffalo wool currently on eBay, you’ll find them below - click a description or photo to get more information or to place your bid now!

Unlike with sheep’s wool, buffalo fiber is not obtained by shearing the buffalo. Normally, the wool is gathered from the field the buffalo graze on after they molt in the spring.
