Flax

Flax fiber (also known as linen) is a plant-based, cellulose fiber that is reported to be hypo-allergenic. Flax fiber absorbs moisture well and becomes softer with each washing.

Flax is the perfect summer-weight spinning fiber. Once you’ve spun it into yarn, it will work well in your knitting or weaving projects.

If you don’t find what you’re looking for on eBay, check the listings for flax fiber at Paradise Fibers. They often carry both natural flax and bleached flax roving for spinning.

Spinning flax is quite a bit different than spinning wool. Because the staple length is quite long, some people like to use a distaff to control the fiber while spinning it. Also, many people recommend wetting down flax fibre before spinning it if you want to end up with a smooth yarn.
