Bluefaced Leicester

The Bluefaced Leicester sheep is a longwool breed which produces wool with a staple length of 3 to 6 inches. Most Bluefaced Leicester sheep are predominately white, but they have a recessive gene that creates black spots on some sheep.

Bluefaced Leicester wool is considered fine to medium, with an average micron count of 24-28. Bluefaced Leicester wool is very lustrous and drapes well.

Due to its long staple length, you’ll find that Bluefaced Leicester roving is fairly easy to spin. Because this fiber felts easily, it would also work well in any felting or fulling project.
